At StarBrite Dental, we are pleased to offer our patients snap-in dentures to increase their comfort and functionality while they are wearing a partial denture. A snap-in partial denture is also called an implant-retained partial denture as it is secured or held in place by dental implants, or it may be called an implant-supported overdenture.

A snap-in partial denture resolves the many problems of a removable partial denture which is why our patients love them. Because we demand a high level of excellence in every service we provide, we take care to ensure that our snap-in partial dentures look and feel great every time.

The Comfort of Snap-In Partial Dentures

There were several problems associated with the older dental technology for providing partial dentures. A snap-in partial denture is a whole new generation of dental care that eliminates these problems commonly suffered by those wearing conventional removable partial dentures.

  • Irritation of mouth and gums: When a partial denture does not fit perfectly, it can become loose. As it shifts, it irritates the gums and mouth. Snap-on dentures are fixed dentures because they attach to dental implants which keep them securely in place. They do not move around and cause irritation.
  • Difficulty eating: The movement of unstable partial dentures that are not implant-retained means that it can be difficult to eat chewy foods. The partial denture may move around instead of providing stable chewing surfaces during a meal.
  • Damage to teeth: Conventional partial dentures must hook onto the remaining teeth to keep them in place. These metal hooks can scrape and damage those natural teeth. Hooks may also cause a buildup of plaque on these adjacent teeth which can accelerate the risk of gum disease and decay.
  • Changing bone quality and quantity: When a person has conventional dentures, there is no stimulation to the bone, therefore it is routine for this patient to continue to suffer bone loss. Over time, the shape of the bone directly under the gums means that the partial denture will no longer fit. When dental implants support a partial denture, the denture rests on and is supported by the implant. The denture does not rely on the shape of the gum line and underlying bone to keep it stable. Additionally, the presence of dental implants transmits the stimulus of chewing to the underlying bone, helping to stimulate bone strength and growth.

As dental technology advances, our dentists and their support staff stay abreast of the best new treatments for our patients. With our insistence on the highest quality care—every patient, every visit—having the latest procedures, equipment and materials is essential. Our ability to provide snap-in partial dentures that enhance the quality of our patients’ lives and appearance is evidence of this dedication. Our patients are confident that they receive superior care every time they visit our office. You should expect nothing less.

  • Who Should Get a Snap-In Partial Denture?

Partial dentures are needed for tooth replacement when a number of teeth on the upper or lower arch have been lost. Putting a dental bridge in place for each tooth or series of missing teeth could be a lengthy process and more expensive than providing single partial dentures for all the missing teeth on each arch. Single partial dentures are a more efficient type of restorative dentistry. If you are missing multiple teeth on the upper or lower arch, please contact us to find out more about how a snap-in partial denture can improve your life.

  • Benefits of Snap-In Partial Dentures

The expert practitioners at StarBrite Dental are offering implant-supported dentures both for those who need complete dentures and those who need removable partial dentures. Many patients say these anchored dentures are more comfortable and easier to get used to.

    • Implant-supported partial dentures can be less bulky than conventional dentures, either partial or complete. This means that many patients find it easier to talk while wearing them.
    • There are no hooks on these partial dentures so adjacent teeth are not damaged and will not suffer a rapid accumulation of plaque.
    • The implants placed in the bone of the jaw hold them securely in place.
    • Because the implant-supported partial dentures are anchored in the bone of the jaw, it is possible to use more chewing force than with regular dentures of either type.
    • When anchored to implants, these fixed dentures will not shift, meaning less irritation to the mouth and gums.

Every time a StarBrite Dental practitioner provides a patient with replacement teeth, they take great care to incorporate aesthetics into the process of creating them. Every tooth should look completely real, with the translucence of a natural tooth. None of the replacement teeth should look like artificial teeth. Also the color and shape should exactly match the patient’s natural teeth. It is part of our dedication to superior care to ensure that a patient is completely happy with their implanted dentures of any type.

  • The Snap-In Partial Dentures Procedure

At every step of the procedure to provide patients with dentures, our devotion to excellence and high quality means that we take many steps that our patients never see. For example, before we even start talking about making their snap-on dentures, we are reviewing the patient’s oral health. We want to ensure that their remaining teeth are fully healthy and that there is no gum disease. Care for these problems must come first.

We also need to know exactly how much bone loss has occurred in their upper and lower jaw bones. This requires detailed imaging and careful study of those images. Once this is done, we can begin to plan any tooth extraction of unhealthy teeth that need to be done before their implant surgery begins. We will also know if there is any bone graft needed to build up bone strength in areas that will receive a dental implant. This is critically important for the long-lasting health of each dental implant. When this preliminary work is complete, we can begin the steps for placing snap-in dentures.

    1. When bone grafts are needed, these are done before implants are placed.
    2. After grafts have healed, dental implants are placed in the strongest areas of bone. This precise placement must be carefully planned and executed for the best success. The number of dental implants will vary by the extent of the implant-supported overdentures to be provided, but four implants is common for an implant-retained partial overdenture that extends to both sides of the arch.
    3. After implant placement, implants must be given time to heal properly and bond with the bone. A temporary partial denture is normally worn during this time.
    4. We carefully monitor the healing process to ensure that everything is healing well and that the implants are bonding well with the bone.
    5. Finally, we take precise impressions of the new shape of the patient’s mouth, including the implants. These impressions will guide us as we create the snap-in partial denture.
    6. Our patient will come in and try out the partial denture. We want to make sure they can easily snap the denture in and remove it. We explain to them how to care for the partial denture so it lasts a very long time.
    7. We are always available to our patients if they have any concerns as they are healing or if they need any adjustments to their partial dentures.

  • What Is It Like to Wear a Snap-In Partial Denture?

Our patients tell us that these dentures affixed to dental implants are a much better way to replace missing teeth. Compared to traditional dentures, they are much more comfortable, stable and functional.

Snap-in partial dentures are as easy to keep clean as other removable dentures. No one likes the option of needing false teeth, no matter what their age, but we can make this process of receiving denture implants and partial dentures a positive experience. Our promise to you and every patient is that every one of our staff, from the front desk to our most experienced dentist, wants you as comfortable as possible and delighted with your result.

From talking comfortably to chewing the toughest steak, snap-in partial dentures or complete dentures anchored to dental implants can change your life. You no longer need to be concerned about loose dentures when you laugh or talk. You won’t have to fuss with hooks any more or be worried about damaging other teeth or developing gum disease. It is a more carefree life that we are happy to give our patients.

We also make sure that the replacement teeth affixed to your partial or complete denture are an enhancement to your appearance. Partial denture teeth should be a perfect match to your natural teeth. Nothing less is acceptable to our staff of dedicated experts.
